Do Sativa Or Indica Strains Yield More?

In the most general of terms, Indica strains yield more than sativa strains when grown under similar conditions.

This is anything but a hard and fast rule, more of a tendency.

  • Indica strains: Indica plants are typically shorter and bushier, with much closer internodal spacing and denser flowers. When trained correctly, this means that Indica dominant plants will have more bud sites that produce heavier and denser flowers in a small area, and will generally produce more weight per square foot than a Sativa.
  • Sativa strains: Sativa plants grow tall and have more significant internodal spacing, which results in more medium-sized flowers over an extended period that almost always a little less dense than Indica strains.

There's a lot more that goes into a plant's yield than just sativa or Indica genetics. Other factors like growing environment, care, and training techniques can have a bigger impact on yield than the strain itself.
